As January Ends

As January comes to an end, we are plenty busy in the Tapahe household.  We think we have Dexter back on track for graduating in May.  He has a lot of work to do, but at least we know what it is.  The insurance company gave us more than we expected for our totaled truck.  I didn't expect more than enough to cover the deductible.  They didn't give us a lot more, but it's enough to help us find something suitable for around town driving.  Emerson and I went shopping over the weekend and we have our eye on an old Ford truck.  Smaller trucks are almost impossible to find right now and the economy has changed the used car market (more popular).  I started physical therapy for my foot.  I didn't really want to do it, but the swelling in my foot hasn't gone down and I have to do something.  Our schedules are making it harder to get around, so I'm excited about getting a vehicle again.  I have found myself thinking about my dad lately.  One year ago I experienced the miracle of being connected to my dad again.  It was a huge roller coaster of emotions, but I'm glad I got a chance to know him (or at least know about him) again and I got to tell him that I love him and forgive him.  Love and forgiveness are truly powerful!  I find myself grateful to have learned from my in-laws that family is ultimately important and you drop all grudges and arguments when a member of your family is in need.  Having his family there in his last days (despite how he had lived his life) was the best thing we could do for him.  When I had my accident and broke my foot, it was so comforting to see my husband spring into action, my sons jump in and do more, my brothers and their wives check up on me, and my in-laws pitch in any way they could.  That's what feeling God's love and charity is all about.
